Coffee & Dessert Pairings That Will Take Your Taste Buds On A Journey

What better way to enjoy coffee than with a delicious dessert that will go perfectly with it. We can all agree that desserts are a lot like coffee in the sense that we all have our personal preferences as well as expectations on what we want to experience from both.

This is why we have decided to go on the hunt for the best coffee pairings for some of our favourite desserts.

Tiramisu

We couldn’t dare to talk about desserts without mentioning the famous tiramisu that stole all of our hearts the first time we tried it. This italian coffee-flavoured is a heavenly mixture of savoiardi dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa.

To go with this dessert we have decided to the Black Velvet Blend by Three Coffee. This coffee offers a perfect combination between sweet and smooth, just like Tiramisu, its caramel sweetness and dark chocolate body will make this a unmatchable pairing. We recommend you enjoy this coffee as an espresso or your favourite milk based option.

Brownie

Yet another classic dessert that is almost impossible to not love, and like love it can come in different forms, such as fudgy, nutty with chocolate chips...the possibilities are endless. The brownie was invented in the US at the end of the 19th century and popularized in the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the 20th century.

To pair this dessert we have chosen the Honduras Caballero El Campo by Falcon Coffee Roasters. This coffee is exactly what you want from a brownie, chocolaty and sweet, and for the cherry on top it cools nicely to a gentle cherry finish. We recommend enjoying this coffee as an espresso or even milk based, however, feel free to experiment with a French Press to extract some unique sweet flavours.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Ahhhh Vanilla, probably the most popular and used Ice cream flavour! This ice  cream is made by cooling a mixture made of cream, sugar, and vanilla above a container of ice and salt. Vanilla is often used to flavor ice cream, especially in North America, Asia, and Europe. The great thing about Vanilla ice cream is that it is the perfect companionship for various other desserts and even coffee to make a delicious affogato.

To go with a creamy vanilla ice cream we have chosen the Colombia Honey from Harvest Season. This coffee is soft and silky, just like ice cream, a clean cup that offers vanilla, caramel and floral notes. We recommend to enjoy this coffee as a filter method to obtain the best possible results.

Lemon Pie

Lemon pie is a personal favourite as it is the perfect balance between sweet and citrus. This desert consists of a shortened pastry base filled with lemon curd and topped with meringue.

To pair this delicious dessert we have chosen the Ethiopia Guji Hambella by Haute Coffee Roasters. This coffee offers floral and citrus notes right up front, with a little more funky tropical fruit as it cools. We would recommend to enjoy this coffee with any brewing method, so the sky's the limit when it comes to experimenting with this pairing.

Apple Crumble

One of the most classic homemade desserts, An apple crumble is a dessert of baked chopped apples topped with rolled oats and brown sugar and cinnamon. This dessert is notable for being sweet yet, fruity and even slightly spicy depending on the amount of cinnamon added.

To pair this dessert we have decided to go with the El Salvador Finca Majahual El Apoyo by Archers Coffee. This coffee’s tasting notes showcase bright acidity highlighting honey and dried apples. We recommend to enjoy this coffee with any brewing method, let your imagination run wild and find your favourite pairing.
