Every morning we all sip our coffee from different origins but do we ever stop to wonder who is behind the process of growing this delicious coffee? To be able to keep drinking this coffee we need to think of ways we can support and promote the well-being of these coffee farmers.

Here is a list of our favourite charities and organizations that contribute towards achieving a sustainable life for coffee growing communities across the world.

Project Waterfall

Their main aim is to bring clean water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities across the world. It’s wrong that while we enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the end of its supply chain face a water crisis.

Since 2011, Project Waterfall has raised over £1.5 million and changed more than 70,000 lives in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.

The Coffee Kids

Since 2015, the Coffee Kids program is part of the Hamburg based Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS). Coffee Kids became a programmatic front runner in the foundation’s youth approach. Since HRNS took over Coffee Kids, the program has worked with 700+ youths in Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, and Tanzania.

The three main pillars of The Coffee Kids combined training, mentoring and seed financing has proven to be very effective in improving their livelihood perspectives.

They saw many young coffee farmers thrive and change their life’s as well as the face of their communities. They started their own coffee shops, became entrepreneurs, founded businesses like honey production or coffee nurseries and inspired so many other young people around them.
